Today, On 3rd March, The Allahabad High Court reserved its verdict on journalist Mohammed Zubair’s plea to quash an FIR filed against him for a tweet about Yati Narsinghanand. A Bench comprising Justice Siddhartha Varma and Justice Yogendra Kumar Srivastava heard the matter. The court also extended the interim protection from arrest granted to Zubair in December 2024. The final ruling on the case is now awaited.

The Allahabad High Court today (6th Jan) extended the stay on Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair’s arrest until January 16, 2025, regarding an FIR based on his social media post about Yati Narsinghanand’s inflammatory speech. Zubair argues his post was a freedom of speech exercise, not inciting violence, amid state claims of misinformation.
Today, On 20th December, The Uttar Pradesh government told the Allahabad High Court that Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of Alt News, posted messages on X with “half-baked information” about Yati Narsinghanand’s speech. The state said these posts “harmed India’s sovereignty and integrity” and aimed to incite violence while encouraging separatist feelings. Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal shared these claims before Justices Siddhartha Varma and Nalin Kumar Srivastava.
The Supreme Court Today (Dec 19) refused to entertain a plea alleging failure of Uttar Pradesh Police to act against the Dharam Sansad slated to be organized by Yati Narasinghanand and others in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad this week. The contempt of court petition filed by a group of civil society members including former bureaucrats was heard by a Bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar.
