The Supreme Court has paused the NGT’s Rs 50.44 crore penalty on the Delhi Jal Board and MCD for allegedly failing to control Yamuna pollution. Notices have been issued to both bodies as the case proceeds.
Today, On 23rd May, The Supreme Court permitted the BJP-led Delhi government to withdraw seven legal cases filed during the AAP regime against the Centre and Lieutenant Governor, following a request that cited the recent change in political leadership.
The Delhi government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party, has filed 10 petitions against the lieutenant governor (LG) in the Supreme Court between April 2023 and May 2024. These petitions cover various issues, including challenges to the GNCTD Act, appointment disputes, and funding for welfare schemes, reflecting ongoing legal tensions between the two entities.
