Supreme Court Orders States to Appoint Protection Officers to Safeguard Women from Domestic Violence

Delhi High Court Questions Maintainability of Petition Against AAP’s Poll Promise of Rs.2,100 Stipend for Women

The Delhi High Court, On January 9, 2025 led by Justice Jyoti Singh, questioned the maintainability of a petition by Vijay Kumar challenging the AAP’s promise of a monthly stipend for women before the assembly elections. The petitioner argued the announcement was misleading. The petitioner had also reported this to the Election Commission, seeking urgent action.

Justice Rajesh Bindal, born on April 16, 1961, in Ambala, Haryana, assumed office as a Supreme Court judge on February 13, 2023. He previously served at the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Jammu & Kashmir High Court, and Calcutta High Court, and as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. He will retire on April 15, 2027, after a distinguished career.
