The All India Shia Personal Law Board will hold its annual national convention on December 28 to discuss key issues, including the proposed Uniform Civil Code in Uttar Pradesh, waqf board corruption, minority rights, socio-economic disadvantages, and Shia political representation.

He emphasized that the new law would end land “loot” and benefit poor Muslims.
The 23rd Law Commission of India may appoint retired Supreme Court Justice Dinesh Maheshwari as its chairperson this week, following a seven-month vacancy. He will be joined by two new members, including Prof D P Verma. The Commission’s main task will be drafting the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for India.
