The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has suspended advocate R Balasubramanian from practicing law due to his abusive conduct towards judges. Following serious allegations, including obstructing police action and misleading clients, the suspension aims to uphold the legal profession’s dignity while disciplinary proceedings are ongoing.
Today(on 12th June), The Madras High Court has mandated the TN Bar Council to ensure junior lawyers receive monthly stipends ranging from Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 to alleviate their financial struggles. The court emphasized the importance of supporting young lawyers and directed the council to issue the circular within four weeks, promoting gender equality in stipend payments.
Today (5th April), The TN Bar Council urged the Madras High Court Chief Justice to recommend more lawyers from minority communities and women for judicial appointments, emphasizing diversity and equal opportunities. Senior Counsel S Prabakaran advocated for a merit-based selection process, stressing the importance of fairness and inclusivity. The letter highlighted the need for integrity and expeditious case resolution in judicial appointments.
