The Delhi High Court ordered police to urgently decide on NSUI leader Ronak Khatri’s request for security after he received death and extortion threats from gangster Rohit Godara. The Court said it’s the State’s duty to protect every citizen’s life.
The Supreme Court has directed the Delhi government to file a report within two weeks on any threat perception to the mother and family of the 2017 Unnao rape victim. The move comes after the family sought reinstatement of CRPF security cover removed earlier.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Unnao rape survivor will continue to receive CRPF security due to ongoing safety concerns, while security for her family and witnesses was removed post-conviction of Kuldeep Sengar. The court advised those feeling unsafe to contact local police for assistance. Sengar is appealing his conviction.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court is addressing a suo motu case regarding a judge’s safety following the theft of a personal security officer’s firearm, which was later used in a suicide. The Court has summoned the Chandigarh SSP for clarity on contradictory assessments of the threat perception to the judge.
