The Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association has condemned retired Justice Markandey Katju’s “winking” remark, calling it sexist and demeaning. The association has demanded an unconditional public apology, stressing such comments harm the dignity of women in law.
Today, On 16th December, the Supreme Court requested the Centre to respond to a plea for nationwide guidelines to ensure women’s safety amid rising violence. Representing the Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association, advocate Mahalakshmi Pawani emphasized unreported sexual abuse cases, urging strict measures. The court seeks to address systemic issues and improve public safety standards.
On Wednesday(21st August), The SC Women Lawyers Association strongly condemned the increase in crimes against women, urging urgent reforms. They highlighted rising violence in states like Kolkata, Bihar, and Maharashtra. The organization advocated for a ban on online pornography, gender sensitization, CCTV systems in workplaces, and coordinated action from government and the public to create a safer society for women.
