Top Indian business leaders including Adani, Ambanis, and Birla have jointly funded a Rs 50 crore health insurance scheme for Supreme Court lawyers, offering free coverage to thousands of legal professionals and their families. This historic initiative was announced by SCBA President Kapil Sibal during the Supreme Court’s 75th anniversary.
Jharkhand: The Jharkhand High Court Advocates Association is protesting against the appointment of lawyers from outside the state as judges of the Jharkhand High Court.Since March 6, the lawyers have been boycotting the courts of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, and Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay. These three judges are part of the High Court Collegium responsible for recommending names for the appointment of judges.
Two renowned Supreme Court lawyers, Bansuri Swaraj and Haris Beeran, have become Members of Parliament. Swaraj won from the New Delhi constituency for the BJP in the Lok Sabha, while Beeran was appointed to the Rajya Sabha by the IUML, hailing from Aluva with a strong academic and legal background. Their election represents the fusion of legal expertise and political leadership.
