The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended five senior High Court judges for appointment as Chief Justices across Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Patna High Courts. The proposals will now be sent to the Union Government for approval and formal notification.
Fourteen new judges were sworn in as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday by Acting Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar. With their induction, the court’s working strength has risen from 68 to 82 against a sanctioned strength of 94.

The President of India has transferred Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya from Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court to Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, following a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation. Justice Alok Aradhe is appointed as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. Both appointments took effect as of January 14.
