Today, On 11th December, The Supreme Court rejected former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt’s plea to suspend his 20-year sentence in the 1996 drug seizure case. Justices JK Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi refused to consider his appeal, denying him relief.

The Supreme Court rejected Asaram Bapu’s plea on Friday, March 1 for the suspension of his prison sentence due to health reasons. Asaram, a self-proclaimed spiritual leader, is serving time for rape. The Court directed an expedited high court appeal review due to his health issues, emphasizing his deliberate delay tactics. Asaram was convicted in 2018 for raping a minor and received another life sentence in 2023.
