Jharkhand High Court agrees to hear CBI’s appeal to increase Lalu Prasad’s 3.5-year sentence in the Deoghar treasury scam. The case involves ₹89 lakh illegally withdrawn during his tenure as Bihar CM.
The Supreme Court ruled that a High Court cannot enhance a convict’s sentence on its own. It stated, “HC can’t enhance sentence or act as revisional court without appeal by State or victim.”
