The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Monday (Sept 9) approved the appointment of six Senior Advocates to the position of Additional Solicitor General (ASG). These appointments are effective immediately upon taking charge and will last for a tenure of three years or until further notice, whichever comes first.

The meeting aimed for a comprehensive review, not the specific designation of individuals.
Today(on 14th August), the Supreme Court of India elevated 39 lawyers to Senior Advocate status, including 10 women, showing a commitment to diversity and legal excellence. The decision reflects the court’s dedication to recognizing legal expertise and promoting gender inclusivity. The selection process was competitive, with 68 Advocates-on-Record and regular advocates honored with the prestigious senior gown.

The 9-judge bench continued hearing arguments on state regulation of industrial alcohol.
