In the Savarkar defamation case, Rahul Gandhi has moved court seeking contempt action against complainant Satyaki Savarkar, accusing him of “wilful disobedience” of court orders and “suppressing crucial evidence” during the trial process.
Today, On 15th July, The Bombay High Court dismissed a PIL accusing Rahul Gandhi of insulting freedom icon Veer Savarkar. The bench said, “We can’t direct Gandhi to read the petition or remove his ignorance,” and advised the petitioner to explore other remedies.
Today, On 11th July, Rahul Gandhi formally pleaded ‘not guilty’ in the Savarkar defamation case during proceedings in a Pune court. Judicial Magistrate Amol Shinde recorded the plea through Gandhi’s advocate Milind Pawar as trial proceedings begin.
A Pune court rejected Satyaki Savarkar’s plea seeking to compel Rahul Gandhi to produce a book cited in his 2023 speech. The court held it would violate Article 20(3) of the Constitution.
