The Delhi High Court criticized Saket Gokhale’s affidavit in his defamation case against Lakshmi Puri, directing him to withdraw it due to improper references. Gokhale, appealing a Rs 50 lakh compensation order for defamatory tweets, must submit a corrected affidavit by the next hearing on July 22, 2024.
In May 2025, the Delhi High Court ordered Saket Gokhale to publicly apologize to Lakshmi Puri for defamatory tweets made in 2021. Gokhale failed to comply with previous rulings, leading to a contempt petition. The court emphasized the need for immediate compliance and rejected Gokhale’s requests to delay the apology.
Today, On 13th May, In the Election Commission protest case, the Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to TMC leaders Derek O’Brien, Sagarika Ghose, and Saket Gokhale. The leaders were arrested earlier this year during their protest outside the Election Commission.

New Delhi, Feb 28 – The Delhi High Court has given Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Saket Gokhale a final opportunity to respond to a contempt petition filed by former diplomat Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri. Justice Dharmesh Sharma granted two more weeks for Gokhale to submit his reply and scheduled the next hearing for April 18. The court warned that if he failed to respond, he might be required to appear in person.
