Paytm has filed an insolvency plea against online gaming platform WinZO before the NCLT, alleging non-payment of Rs 3.6 crore for ad services. WinZO claims the invoices were “not validated,” while Paytm calls it a “sham defence.”
Head Digital Works has challenged the new Online Gaming Act, 2025 in the Karnataka High Court, arguing that banning Rummy and Poker violates constitutional rights. The company says the prohibition endangers jobs, tax revenue and over Rs 23,000 crore in industry investments.
The Allahabad High Court held that poker and rummy are games of skill, not gambling. The petitioner argued that the denial of permission was based solely on the presumption that these games might disturb public peace and harmony or be considered gambling.
