Delhi court sought response from Judge Vishal Gogne on Rabri Devi’s plea seeking transfer of criminal cases from his court. The Principal District and Sessions Judge is hearing her request to shift four cases involving her family presently.
Today, On 13th December, The CBI opposed Rabri Devi’s plea seeking transfer of criminal cases involving her family from Judge Vishal Gogne. It told the court, “You can’t bulldoze a court, go forum shopping, or demean a judge,” strongly resisting the move.
Today, On 11th December, In the Delhi Riots Case, Considering Sister’s Marriage,’ Court Grants Bail to Umar Khalid. He will receive interim relief and be on bail from December 16 to December 29, subject to furnishing a personal bond and sureties.
Today, On 10th December, The Supreme Court has reserved its judgment on the bail pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and others in the Delhi riots case. Delhi Police says “Sharjeel Imam’s case will be treated as evidence against other accused.”
Today, On 9th December, Sharjeel Imam told the Supreme Court that he has spent six years in jail even though he is not named in any of the 750 FIRs linked to the riots and that courts have already held he made no call to pick up weapons.
Today, On 9th December, Umar Khalid has approached the Karkardooma Court seeking interim bail, saying he wants to attend his sister’s upcoming wedding while his trial in the Delhi riots conspiracy case is still continuing before the court.
The Supreme Court held that a woman’s statement recorded by police under Section 161 CrPC can be treated as a valid dying declaration. The Court also summoned the husband’s relatives for further proceedings in the case before it.
Today, On 3rd December, In the Delhi Riots bail case, the Supreme Court has asked Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Gulfisha Fatima, and Meeran Haider to furnish their permanent addresses. The Bench has now scheduled the next hearing for December 9.
Today, On 2nd December, In the 2020 Delhi Riots conspiracy case, Snr Adv Kapil Sibal, representing Umar Khalid, said Khalid’s Amravati speech carried no communal message or incitement, arguing before the Supreme Court that vague conspiracy allegations and prolonged custody cannot replace evidence, while asserting his continued innocence under UAPA scrutiny.
