Today, On 15th December, Amid severe pollution levels in the national capital, the Delhi High Court issued an advisory to the Bar. Lawyers and self-represented litigants were advised to utilise hybrid appearances via video conferencing to reduce physical presence in court.

Today, On 5th January, The National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued a notice to the Delhi government over a plea alleging misuse and illegal encroachment of land designated for afforestation. The land, meant to combat pollution, is claimed to have been repurposed improperly. The NGT has sought the government’s response on the matter. This highlights concerns about environmental mismanagement in Delhi.
Calling pollution a “pan-India” issue, the Supreme Court Today (Dec 16) asked the government to submit a list of highly polluted cities. The court said a machinery similar to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), which identifies and resolves problems surrounding air quality in Delhi-NCR, should be created for all states.
Supreme Court Today (Dec 5) said the emergency measures under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) dealing with air pollution in Delhi and neighbouring areas can be withdrawn in view of the downward trend noticed in the Air Quality Index or AQI level. The top court was hearing a matter over measures to curb air pollution in Delhi-NCR areas.
