The Calcutta High Court directed the West Bengal government to file a report on allegations that extortion accused were paraded with ropes tied around their waists after their arrest. The Court stressed that police must act strictly according to law and ensure that no person is subjected to humiliation.
The Delhi High Court warned the Delhi Police that it may order a Central Bureau of Investigation probe, stating the court would not let the matter go and could no longer trust the ongoing investigation, its police conduct.
In the Etah rape case, a police officer allegedly took six samosas as a bribe to file the final report. The officer is also accused of ignoring eyewitness accounts and the rape survivor’s statement in the process.
