The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Centre and NBEMS on pleas demanding answer key publication for NEET-PG 2025. Justices Pardiwala and Viswanathan stressed transparency while questioning why only a handful of students approached the Court.
NEET-PG aspirants have moved the Supreme Court challenging NBEMS’ new “Question ID-only” answer key system, calling it “opaque, unintelligible and incapable of meaningful verification.” They seek candidate-wise disclosure for transparency and fairness.
Today, On 20th May, The Supreme Court postponed the hearing on petitions challenging the NEET PG normalisation process to May 22. The petitions question the fairness and transparency of the method used in this year’s exam.
New Delhi, May 5 – The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Central Government and other authorities to respond to a petition challenging the decision to conduct the NEET-PG 2025 examination in two different shifts. The exam is currently scheduled for June 15, 2025. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan issued a notice and said, “Issue notice, returnable one week,” while agreeing to hear the plea filed by seven medical professionals.
The Supreme Court, led by CJI DY Chandrachud, will address the NEET PG case this Friday, focusing on the petitioners’ demands for transparency regarding examination results and normalization processes. Concerns have been raised about data accessibility from the National Board of Examinations, which could influence the fairness of medical education admissions.
The NEET PG 2024 exam faced delays and controversies, leading to a Supreme Court case with 19 petitioners demanding transparency and timely results. The Court’s notice to the National Board of Examinations is a significant development. The Medical Counselling Committee has not confirmed the counselling schedule, but tentative dates suggest registration may begin on September 20, 2024.
