The DMK in Tamil Nadu has filed a defamation suit (25th Oct) against AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami, seeking Rs. 1 crore in damages. The case, presented by R.S. Bharathi, accuses Palaniswami of falsely linking the DMK to drug-related allegations and damaging its public image. A hearing is scheduled for next week.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has appointed an officer to investigate allegations against IPS officer Gyaneshwar Singh. The appointment follows a Mumbai-based journalist’s earlier petition seeking a CBI investigation into Singh. Today(on 2nd September), the journalist withdrew his petition in light of the NCB’s action.

Former NCB zonal director, Sameer Wankhede, faces a money laundering case over an alleged Rs 25 crore bribe demand in the Aryan Khan drug case. The Bombay High Court has granted him protection from arrest until March 1. Wankhede has also challenged the case, alleging malice and vendetta due to his prior complaint against NCB officials.
