NEW DELHI: The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has given the Delhi Police 60 more days to complete their investigation in the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) case against former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan. The police had requested 90 days, but the court only approved a 60-day extension.
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court asked a former Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) corporator and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, who filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against illegal construction in Mumbai, to provide details of the actions he took against such structures when he was in office.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Bharati Dangre, while hearing the case, questioned the petitioner on his past role in handling illegal constructions.
The Jharkhand High Court directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to submit an affidavit regarding the voter list for municipal elections in the state. Justice Ananda Sen issued the order while hearing a contempt petition filed by Roshni Khalko, a former ward councillor. The petition highlighted the government’s delay in holding municipal polls. The court is addressing concerns over the timely conduct of elections.
