The Supreme Court has given Meghalaya four weeks to file an affidavit outlining measures taken to curb alleged illegal mining in the Khas Hills. The court warned this is the “last chance” before further action.
Today, On 15th May, The Supreme Court halted mining in Sariska Tiger Reserve to protect its fragile ecosystem and wildlife. Justices ordered a suspension of mining within a 1km radius of the Critical Tiger Habitat and directed Rajasthan to devise a closure plan.
