Land acquisition compensation: the Supreme Court restored a uniform Rs 5 lakh per acre and 50% severance charges for land acquired for the Aspal Extension Drain in Fazilka, setting aside the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s radial step-down valuation.
The Supreme Court said that land compensation should be based on principles of equity, justice, and fairness. The case involved land acquired in April 2008 for developing the Chaudhary Devi Lal Industrial Model Township.
