CJI BR Gavai Launches MNLU Mumbai Permanent Campus Project, Praises Maharashtra’s Judicial Infrastructure

Chief Justice of India BR Gavai inaugurated the project for MNLU Mumbai’s new campus at Goregaon, lauding Maharashtra’s efforts in strengthening judicial and legal infrastructure. He encouraged students to embrace litigation and uphold the Constitution’s ideals of social and economic justice.

Justice Ujjal Bhuyan at MNLU Symposium on Artificial Intelligence: “Judges & Lawyers Can’t Be Driven by AI”

At the MNLU Symposium on AI, Supreme Court Judge Justice Ujjal Bhuyan emphasized the limitations of artificial intelligence in the legal profession. He remarked that while the idea of “AI Judges” is often discussed, true justice requires human judgment. “Judges and lawyers cannot be driven by AI in 95 per cent of the cases,” he stated. Justice Bhuyan highlighted the irreplaceable role of human discretion and empathy in the judicial process.

Bombay HC Urges Maharashtra Govt.: Consider Goregaon for New High Court Complex Location

Today(on12th April), The Bombay High Court has directed the Maharashtra government to assess the suitability of Goregaon for a new High Court complex, emphasizing land availability and coastal road access. This reflects the court’s openness to explore alternative sites amidst ongoing preparations for a new court building in Bandra. The discussion was presided over by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice AS Doctor, during a hearing concerning the allocation of land for the new court complex. The possibility of using the Goregaon land is under consideration without hindering the progress of the ongoing Bandra project.
