Head Digital Works has challenged the new Online Gaming Act, 2025 in the Karnataka High Court, arguing that banning Rummy and Poker violates constitutional rights. The company says the prohibition endangers jobs, tax revenue and over Rs 23,000 crore in industry investments.
Today, On 27th January, The Supreme Court will hear pleas regarding the cancellation of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching jobs in West Bengal, as ordered by the High Court. The apex court clarified that if it finds the appointments illegal, those affected must return the salaries and benefits they received. This case stems from allegations of irregularities in recruitment for school jobs.
The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, denied an advocate’s plea to reduce a five-year suspension by the Bar Council of India for misconduct. The Court criticized the advocate for participating in Bar Association elections while suspended, asserting he showed no remorse and deserved no sympathy. The appeal was dismissed.
