The Bar Council of India has struck off a Delhi advocate after confirming he enrolled using forged documents. The BCI has also uncovered suspected collusion involving touts, insiders and long-serving BCD staff.
Delhi Bar Council has taken big action by revoking the licenses of over 100 lawyers after finding their degrees fake or forged. Authorities said these advocates enrolled with misrepresentation, and strict measures were needed to protect legal integrity.
The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has issued notices to 16 advocates regarding allegations of bench hunting at the High Court. Senior Advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Mukul Rohatgi will also be asked to respond to the Privilege Committee.
Justice Chandra Dhari Singh, during his farewell, emphasized that judging goes beyond mere law application; it requires empathy and understanding of those affected. He highlighted the balance of wisdom and compassion, urging legal professionals to restore faith in the judiciary amid rising public skepticism. The legal system must exemplify humanity, not bureaucracy.
Madras: The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CBCID) to conduct an in-depth investigation into allegations against a fake law firm, “JMI Law Associates,” and its representatives. The allegations involve murky land transactions in the Mylapore area of Chennai.
