Delhi High Court called it “highly deplorable” that a lawyer raised his voice and tried to overawe a trial judge after being denied an adjournment. The Court said “a judge is a judge” at every level and warned that such disrespect cannot be tolerated.
Supreme Court Justice Vikram Nath said artificial intelligence will change how we work and live, urging judges and lawyers to uphold fairness and compassion as technology tests the legal system. He delivered these remarks during the AK Sen Memorial Lecture at the India International Centre in New Delhi.
Today, On 31st October, The Supreme Court ruled that investigating agencies must not summon advocates representing the accused, stressing that “such summons could infringe fundamental rights of the accused” and violate statutory provisions protecting lawyer-client confidentiality under Section 132 and the new BNSS framework.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the muted response to the Supreme Court shoe-hurling incident, calling it “an insult to the Supreme Court” and highlighting rising crimes against Dalits. He questioned how a 70-year-old man could be radicalised, raising concerns over social and legal accountability.
