Gokhale, appealing a Rs 50 lakh compensation order for defamatory tweets, must submit a corrected affidavit by the next hearing on July 22, 2024.
In May 2025, the Delhi High Court ordered Saket Gokhale to publicly apologize to Lakshmi Puri for defamatory tweets made in 2021. Gokhale failed to comply with previous rulings, leading to a contempt petition. The court emphasized the need for immediate compliance and rejected Gokhale’s requests to delay the apology.
In July 2024, the Delhi High Court mandated TMC leader Saket Gokhale to pay Rs 50 lakh in damages after he defamed Lakshmi Puri on social media regarding property accusations. Gokhale’s attempts to contest the ruling were rejected, and salary attachment ensued due to non-compliance, alongside a contempt petition from Puri.
