The Supreme Court has directed the Delhi government to file a report within two weeks on any threat perception to the mother and family of the 2017 Unnao rape victim. The move comes after the family sought reinstatement of CRPF security cover removed earlier.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Unnao rape survivor will continue to receive CRPF security due to ongoing safety concerns, while security for her family and witnesses was removed post-conviction of Kuldeep Sengar. The court advised those feeling unsafe to contact local police for assistance. Sengar is appealing his conviction.
Today, On 3rd February, The Delhi High Court granted one-day bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar for his cataract surgery. This marks the third time he has been released on medical grounds. The court’s decision allows him temporary relief for the procedure. Sengar had previously been granted bail for medical reasons.
