Today, On 16th December, Supreme Court stayed coercive action against private hospitals challenging Kerala High Court directions requiring display of medical services and treatment rates at hospital receptions. Court sought responses from Centre and Kerala government, fixing hearing on February 3, 2026.
The Kerala High Court criticized the State government for submitting affidavits on the day of the hearing, despite being given ample time. Chief Justice Jamdar warned of financial penalties if this practice continues, emphasizing the importance of timely submissions to maintain efficiency in court proceedings. The court is addressing ongoing child welfare issues.
