The President of India appointed Hon’ble Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, a judge of the Orissa High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, effective upon taking charge, following a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium.
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Orissa High Court Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo for appointment as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by CJI Surya Kant on December 18.
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended five senior High Court judges for appointment as Chief Justices across Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Patna High Courts. The proposals will now be sent to the Union Government for approval and formal notification.
The Orissa High Court upheld the conviction of Raikishore Jena for murdering his wife, ruling that her request to wait for food did not amount to grave and sudden provocation. The court emphasized there was no prior quarrel and rejected the defense’s claim of provocation, highlighting the husband’s violent response as intentional.
