Justice Nisha Banu will be sworn in as a Judge of the Kerala High Court on December 19, following the Centre’s transfer notification and presidential directive. The High Court has issued an official notification and announced live streaming of the ceremony.
The President directed Justice Nisha Banu to assume charge as Judge of the Kerala High Court on or before December 20, 2025, after consulting CJI. The Centre notified her transfer from Madras High Court on October 14, 2025.
The Madras High Court issued a split verdict on animal sacrifices at the Sikkandar Badhusha Dargah. Justice Nisha Banu upheld religious freedoms, while Justice S Srimathy required historical proof for the practice before 1920. The case will now be referred to the Chief Justice for resolution of the differing opinions.
