CJI B. R. Gavai cautioned that while courts must protect citizens’ rights, “judicial activism should not turn into judicial adventurism or judicial terrorism.” He made the remark at a book launch in Delhi, stressing the need for balanced judicial intervention.
Chief Justice Dr DY Chandrachud emphasized the judiciary’s selective role in societal disputes, clarifying the absence of direct governmental pressure during his term. He underlined the importance of Parliament legislating marriage laws, especially in the context of same-sex unions.
