‘No Urgency’ in Death Penalty Plea: Delhi High Court to Hear NIA vs Yasin Malik Case on April 22

The Delhi High Court has listed April 22, 2026, to hear the National Investigation Agency’s appeal seeking death penalty for Yasin Malik. The court granted four weeks to the NIA to file its response, observing that there was “no urgency” as Malik is already serving a life sentence.

Today, On 20th January, The Supreme Court directed the Jammu and Kashmir High Court registrar to ensure proper video conferencing (VC) facilities at the Jammu court for the trial of Yasin Malik. The bench also asked the registrars to submit their status reports by February 18. The CBI’s plea regarding the case has been scheduled for hearing on February 21.

“Yasin Malik Ends Hunger Strike, Receiving Medical Aid”: Tihar Jail Authorities to Delhi HC

Today, On 11th November, Tihar Jail authorities informed the Delhi High Court that Yasin Malik ended his hunger strike on November 8 and is receiving medical care. He sought treatment at AIIMS or a super-specialty hospital. The next hearing is scheduled for November 18, with the court directing that appropriate care be ensured.
