The Enforcement Directorate has moved the Supreme Court alleging that the West Bengal government, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, obstructed its probe during searches at the I-PAC office and the residence of its director, Pratik Jain, in Kolkata.
After the Enforcement Directorate searched I-PAC’s office and its director’s residence in Kolkata, the political consultancy said it fully cooperated with the probe. I-PAC also expressed concern over the “unsettling precedent” while reaffirming its commitment to the law.
The Calcutta High Court refused the Enforcement Directorate’s plea for an urgent hearing and change of judge in the I-PAC raid matter. TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee backed the court’s stand, saying judicial orders cannot be altered administratively.
