HDFC Bank MD & CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan has filed a plea in Bombay High Court seeking to cancel an FIR lodged by Lilavati Trust. Four judges recused before the case was assigned to Justices Karnik and Borkar.
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India has ruled that if a High Court Bench hears a case that was not assigned to it by the Chief Justice of the High Court, its order will be considered void and without legal authority. The Bench comprising Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Rajesh Bindal stated that even if both parties agree to have their case heard by such a Bench, it does not grant the Bench the authority to decide the case.
On November 21, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly unanimously approved a resolution to establish a High Court bench in Kurnool, introduced by Minister N Md Farooq. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed the resolution will be sent to the Central government, reinforcing the state’s commitment to development post-bifurcation in 2014.
Today, On 30th October, five new judges were sworn in at the Kerala High Court, reducing judicial vacancies to two. The court now has 45 judges out of 47 allotted. Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar administered the oath, and officials welcomed the appointees, emphasizing their contributions amidst criticisms of the Central government’s delays in approvals.
