The Supreme Court is hearing a plea alleging financial irregularities by Indiabulls Housing Finance and its promoters. Noting ED and EOW FIRs and ongoing probes, the Court directed the CBI Director to take a final call and file a fresh affidavit.
Senior Advocate Harish Salve has once again criticized the Supreme Court’s Collegium system, calling himself a “trenchant critic” of it. He said that the system is “not equipped” to handle cases like the one involving Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma. The controversy revolves around reports that large amounts of cash were recovered from Justice Varma’s house. Mr. Salve has now called for the judge’s transfer to the Allahabad High Court to be put on hold until more clarity emerges.
NEW DELHI: Senior Advocate Indira Jaising told the Supreme Court on Thursday that she does not support the idea of conducting interviews to designate lawyers as Senior Advocates. She clarified that she never made such a suggestion in 2017, yet the Supreme Court included an interview process in its judgment and assigned 25 marks for it.

He highlights that executive inaction often shifts responsibilities to the court, creating unrealistic expectations that can lead to public disappointment in judicial decisions.
The Supreme Court dismissed SEBI’s appeal against the SAT ruling that cleared Mukesh Ambani of penalties for the 2007 Reliance Petroleum stock manipulation case, citing no question of law. However, the Court will hear SEBI’s appeal regarding SAT’s relief to RIL on December 2, 2023. Senior advocates represented both parties.
