SCBA President Vikas Singh lauded Justice Dhulia for vacating his residence the same day, calling it “outstanding,” while criticising ex-CJI DY Chandrachud for allegedly overstaying in government housing. Singh said judges must lead by example to uphold the court’s dignity.
Today, On 22nd July, CJI Gavai refuses to entertain ex-Bihar MLA’s plea against Rs.20 lakh rent for overstaying in a government bungalow. Observes, “One should not hold on to government accommodation endlessly,” stressing the need for accountability and fairness.
The Delhi High Court issued notice to the High Court of Delhi, Central and Delhi government on a plea filed by district court judges of the national capital seeking appropriate government residential accommodations.
