The Allahabad High Court has quashed a gang chart, charge sheet, cognizance order and the entire Gangsters Act prosecution against a man, holding that the Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate had merely signed a cyclostyled gang chart, on different dates, without recording any independent satisfaction or application of mind. Calling it a ‘sad state of affairs’, the Court directed officials to act with fairness and follow binding precedent.
