The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth Rs 11.14 crore of ex-cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan in the 1xBet illegal betting case. ED alleges both stars endorsed the platform for foreign payments linked to money laundering.
Delhi High Court Today (Aug 27) refused to directly ban unregulated betting and gambling apps. The Court said the petitioner should first make a fresh representation before the government.
The Allahabad High Court held that poker and rummy are games of skill, not gambling. The petitioner argued that the denial of permission was based solely on the presumption that these games might disturb public peace and harmony or be considered gambling.
