Frivolous And Publicity Stunt: Karnataka High Court Dismisses PIL Challenging DK Shivakumar’s Appointment

The Karnataka High Court dismissed a PIL challenging the appointment of DK Shivakumar as Deputy Chief Minister and the swearing-in of the State Cabinet, calling it “frivolous” and “a publicity stunt.” The Court also imposed a Rs.50,000 cost on the petitioner for wasting judicial time.

Today(on 9th July),The Supreme Court reprimanded advocate Ashok Pandey for not depositing a Rs 50,000 fine for filing a “meritless” plea and directed him to pay within two weeks. Justices Abhay S. Oka and Augustine George Masih rejected Pandey’s request for more time, despite his claim of filing petitions in support of former CJI Dipak Misra in 2018 during allegations against Misra.
