The Sultanpur MP-MLA court adjourned Rahul Gandhi’s defamation case hearing to November 17 after a lawyer’s death halted proceedings. BJP’s Vijay Mishra filed the case over Gandhi’s 2018 remark calling Amit Shah an “accused” of murder.
The Supreme Court today rejected former Mumbai Police Pradeep Sharma’s plea to suspend his conviction for a fake encounter case, preventing him from contesting the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly polls. Sharma was convicted for the 2006 fake encounter killing of a suspected gang member. Despite bail, Sharma withdrew his plea following the Supreme Court’s refusal.
On Thursday(6th June),Former Punjab Police officials, DIG Dilbagh Singh and DSP Gurbachan Singh, were convicted in a 1993 fake encounter case by Judge RK Gupta in Mohali, marking 31 years since the incident. The case originated from the unlawful custody and subsequent killing of Gulshan Kumar, leading to a significant triumph for justice. The sentencing is scheduled for today.
Former Mumbai police officer Pradeep Sharma has appealed to the Supreme Court against his life imprisonment verdict in a 2006 fake encounter case. The Bombay High Court upheld convictions of 13 other defendants, stating that the police orchestrated the killing to appear genuine. Sharma is also facing separate accusations related to the killing of businessman Mansukh Hiran.
