The e-Courts and Video Conferencing (VC) system has significantly boosted judicial efficiency in the Gauhati High Court and its district courts, enabling the disposal of over 8,00,970 cases and marking a major milestone in India’s digital justice transformation.
Justice Vikram Nath has urged the Delhi High Court to start live-streaming its proceedings, calling it the premier institution of the country. He reminded that judges had no objections and asked to be invited when live-streaming begins.
On Sunday(25th August),Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the challenges faced by the common man in the Indian judicial system and reiterated the government’s efforts to simplify justice delivery. He addressed these issues during the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur.
The Supreme Court of India’s 2024-25 budget, slightly reduced from the previous year, emphasizes the E-Court initiative with a substantial allocation of Rs 7,000 crore. Despite overall budget cuts, specific funds for “Administration of Justice” remain nearly unchanged. The significant focus on digitization and modernization aims to enhance judicial efficiency and accessibility, reflecting the government’s strategic vision.
