SC directs fresh notification to safeguard Lodhi-era monument; orders demolition of illegal structures and Rs 40 lakh compensation by encroachers.
Today (4th April) A Delhi court ordered the Enforcement Directorate to provide a copy of the charge sheet to the accused in the DJB money laundering case involving Delhi Jal Board tenders. The accused include DJB’s former chief engineer and a contractor. The ED alleges bribe money was funneled to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal faces previous money laundering charges and is presently in judicial custody.
CJI Chandrachud today assured the AAP government that it has the authority to release the allocated Rs 3,000 crore for the Delhi Jal Board even after the March 31 deadline. The decision came after the AAP administration urgently petitioned for the release of funds, fearing their potential expiry. The hearing has been scheduled for April 1.
