Following the Supreme Court’s order allowing Vodafone Idea’s AGR reassessment up to FY17, Bharti Airtel will now approach the government for similar relief. Gopal Vittal said the company seeks a fair, non-discriminatory review of its dues.
Today, On 27th October, The Supreme Court allowed the Central Government to re-examine issues related to the AGR dues of Vodafone Idea. The Bench said there was no impediment in the Centre reconsidering the matter, given its equity stake and consumer impact.
Delhi High Court asked the Centre and WhatsApp to respond to a plea by an advocate whose account was suspended. The petitioner claimed the arbitrary suspension deprived him of access to crucial personal and professional data stored in the account.
The Supreme Court has deferred to October 13 Vodafone Idea’s plea against DoT’s fresh Rs 5,606 crore AGR demand. Both the Centre and VIL sought more time to work out a possible solution.
