Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court of India under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, challenging the Delhi High Court Chief Justice’s refusal to change the judge in the excise policy case overseen by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
Former Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia furnished Rs 50,000 surety bonds after discharge in the Delhi Excise Policy Case, with Rouse Avenue Court and Special Judge Jitendra Singh accepting the bonds to secure their presence if an appeal arises.
The Delhi High Court stayed adverse remarks against the Central Bureau of Investigation after a trial court discharged 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, in the Delhi excise policy case and paused related proceedings.
Today(on 29th July),The Supreme Court will hear bail pleas from AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who has been in custody for 16 months since his February 2023 arrest in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Sisodia seeks release amid ongoing investigations into the case, with previous bail pleas rejected. The case involves allegations of kickbacks and misuse of the excise policy for political gains.
