The Delhi Legislative Assembly rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s request to live-stream the Privileges Committee proceedings over the ‘Phaansi Ghar’ issue, stating the rules mandate confidentiality and expressing surprise at the former chief minister’s claimed ignorance of the committee procedures.
Arvind Kejriwal is set to appear before the Delhi Assembly’s Privileges Committee on Friday in connection with the ‘Phansi Ghar’ controversy at the Assembly premises. The panel had earlier summoned the concerned leaders several times, but they failed to appear and present their side citing different reasons.
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have approached the Delhi High Court challenging the Privileges Committee summons over alleged misuse of Rs 1 crore public funds to renovate the so-called “Phansi Ghar” inside the Assembly. The AAP leaders claim the proceedings are unconstitutional and beyond the committee’s powers.
