Today, On 6th September, A Delhi court has allowed Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid to cast his vote in the Vice Presidential election on September 9. Judge Chander Jit approved his request, after earlier granting custody parole for the Parliament session.
The National Investigation Agency opposed OMA Salam’s request for a 15-day custody parole to attend religious ceremonies in Kerala following his daughter’s death. While the NIA suggested a one-day visit was reasonable, the court noted the need for verification of Salam’s claims regarding the rituals. Salam is under arrest for alleged terror-related activities.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has asked Baramulla MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, also known as Engineer Rashid, to pay Rs 3.35 lakh for his travel from Tihar Jail to Parliament. Rashid is currently in jail under charges related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). A Division Bench of Justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani noted that Rashid had already paid around Rs 1.45 lakh. The Court ruled that he must pay the remaining balance before his final hearing on who should bear the cost of his travel and security expenses.
