Members of the Gauhati High Court Bar Association began a three-day, six-hour hunger strike opposing the proposed relocation of the court complex. The new Gauhati High Court building is planned at Rangmahal, North Guwahati, with the foundation stone to be laid on January 11.
Today, On 1st August, Supreme Court refuses to entertain plea against shifting of court in Andhra Pradesh, saying “Courts are not only for lawyers, but for litigants,” and stressing the importance of doorstep justice through local courts like Gram Nyayalayas.
Maharashtra government informed the Supreme Court that it has acquired 15.33 acres for the new Bombay High Court building. The remaining land clearance is “actively underway.”
