MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has issued a notice to the Union of India regarding a petition filed by gangster Abu Salem, who is seeking remission of his sentence and premature release from prison. Salem has been serving his sentence for his involvement in the 1993 Bombay blasts and claims to have completed over 25 years of imprisonment as per the terms of his extradition from Portugal.
A Jashpur court registered a criminal case against BJP MLA Raymuni Bhagat for alleged objectionable remarks about Jesus made on September 1, 2023. Complaints from the Christian community prompted this action after police directed them to court. The case includes charges of promoting enmity and wounding religious sentiments, with Bhagat required to appear on January 10, 2024.
